Teen star Lindsay Lohan was involved in a car accident with a paparazzi on Tuesday. The photographer, 24-year-old Galo Ramirez, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon according to the LAPD after his car allegedly ran into Lohan's Mercedes-Benz when he was trying to get pictures of the actress. He was released on $35,000 bail.
'Evidence showed Ramirez's actions were intentional, rather than accidental, making the incident criminal,' officer Sandra Escalante of the LAPD told the AFP.
Lohan, 18, was unhurt in the accident. According to the police, Lohan called them before the accident to complain of harassment by paparazzi.
The actresses mother, Dina Lohan, was relieved her daughter was safe. In a statement she said, 'I thank God my daughter was able to walk out of the car.'
Lohan has had a difficult time as of late. It was just announced that her father will be sentenced to jail. She has also been under scrutiny from the press for her recent weight loss and rumors of having breast implants which the actress denies.
Lohan's next project is a remake of the Disney hit, 'Herbie: Fully Loaded' which is due in theaters on June 22.
