Stuntman Christopher Sayour is in serious condition in a Vancouver, British Columbia hospital after suffering a bad fall during shooting for a scene from the television show 'Smallville.'

Sayour, 35, suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries on Tuesday after the fall.

Sayour serves as the stunt coordinator on the show and is also the double for star Tom Welling. Welling plays Clark Kent. The stuntman has worked on the show since its premier in 2001.

Initially, it was reported that Sayour fell 26 feet when he was injured but that was later updated to a 37 foot fall.

The stuntman's family issued a statement saying,
'We ask everyone to join us in praying for Christopher's recovery.'

The WB network and Warner Brothers issued a joint statement saying their thoughts and prayers were with Sayour's family.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. The local Royal Canadian Mounted Police have already determined that foul play was not involved.

In addition to his work on 'Smallville,' Sayour has worked as a stuntman on such films as 'Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas,' 'Star Trek: Nemesis' and 'I, Robot.'
