New York, July 19 – Nirvana grew to prominence in Seattle, but the cool kids gathered on the Lower East Side for the premiere of Gus Van Sant’s Last Days, a cinematic tribute to the rocker Kurt Cobain’s final hours. And although we were disappointed that Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, wasn’t there, Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" creator John Cameron Mitchell, and Beatle offspring Sean Lennon lent some music cred to the premiere. Star Michael Pitt looked every bit the heroin-shooting rockstar in his ripped t-shirt, on which his girlfriend, model Jamie Bochert, had written something in blue ink. Writer Paul Auster and Oscar-nominated actress Catalina Sandino Moreno also hit the no-longer-slummy nabe for the premiere.
