Zsa Zsa Gabor, the former Hungarian beauty queen who became a celebrity in the United States, has suffered a stroke. Ms. Gabor is in critical but stable condition in a Los Angeles hospital according to her ninth husband, Frederic von Anhalt.
The stroke took place Wednesday afternoon. Emergency surgery was needed to open what Anhalt called a 'completely blocked' artery. He added that the operation was successful and hoped that Zsa Zsa would be home from the hospital in about three days.
Gabor has been married nine times. Her present marriage to Mr. von Anhalt is her longest. The couple was married in 1986. Her exact age is not known, she is either 86, 88 or 89.
Gabor is a great-aunt to Paris and Nicky Hilton as she was once married to Conrad Hilton.
Recently, the B-movie actress has made headlines for her behavior off the screen. In 1989, she was given a three day jail sentence for slapping a police officer after the she was pulled over at a traffic stop.
She has also sued her only child, daughter Francesca Hilton, for allegedly forging her signature to secure a loan of $2 million.
