The Milwaukee Bucks will re-sign guard Michael Redd to a six-year, $90 million contract according to Redd's agent. Redd had received an offer from the Bucks rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, but elected to stay with the Bucks.
'Michael has decided to remain with the Bucks,' Redd's agent, Kevin Poston, told the 'Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.' 'Cleveland was a great situation, very intriguing. But Milwaukee is Michael's town.'
The Cavs offer was reportedly a five-year deal worth $70 million.
While Redd's signing was announced by Poston today, he cannot formally sign a contract until July 23 when the NBA ends its moratorium on free agent signings.
'We're engaged in free-agent negotiations with Michael Redd,' Bucks general manager Larry Harris said in a statement. 'We intend to enter into a player contract with Michael once the moratorium period has ended.'
Redd has spent his entire NBA career with Milwaukee. He averaged a career high 23 points-per-game for the Bucks in 2004-2005.
