Bo Bice is a bachelor no more! The American Idol 4 runner-up and his girlfriend Caroline Fisher were married on June 15 in Helena, Alabama. Roger Widynowski, Bo's publicist, told People magazine that it was a “small, intimate wedding.” Bice, 29 and Caroline, who is 24 were issued a marriage certificate on June 29.
Bo and Caroline met at the Ragtime Café in Hoover, Alabama in 2003. At the time, Bo was a clerk in a nearby guitar store, and Caroline worked at the café as a waitress. They have a home together in Helena, where they are the proud “parents” of several dogs and cats!
Bo was one of 100,000 people who auditioned for the show, which culminated on May 25. He lost to country singer Carrie Underwood after coming on strong in the final weeks of the competition. Bo’s a cappella version of “In a Dream” was one of the season’s highlights, and he became the odds-on favorite to win on a number of online betting sites.
His defeat was not disappointing, however. He told Rolling Stone magazine that when people ask him what he was thinking as he stood there waiting for them to announce the winner, he says his thought was, “Please, God, don't let me win this thing.” He continues, “The label 'American Idol' was not for me. I'm not a pop person. It would have been even harder to play my kind of music if I had won.'
Earlier in the competition, the Smoking Gun website released a story detailing Bo’s arrest records on two counts of drug possession. Because he had told producers about his past, he was not disqualified. Bo participated in a treatment program, and all charges were released. He has since become an active member of a local church, working with youth, and performing at services.
Bo will be touring with the rest of the Idols starting on July 12. The tour, which is selling out nationwide, stops at more than 40 cities in the U.S. and Canada. On days off from the tour, he will be working on his full-length CD for RCA Records.
Bo's single, 'Inside Your Heaven' / 'Vehicle' debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top 100 coming, selling 106,000 copies its first week out. Carrie's version of the same song is #3. They were both beaten by Mariah Carey.
