Donald Trump is used to getting his way but the Palm Beach Town Council has denied a request by 'The Donald' to have fireworks set off at his wedding tomorrow. Trump is planning to wed Slovenian supermodel Melania Knauss, age 34. It is the third marriage for Trump, 58.
Trump had requested that fireworks be fired from land on his Mar-A-Lago estate. Fireworks are usually set off over water. 'We have not approved any fireworks on land in at least 20 years,' Councilman Norman Goldblum told the Associated Press. 'It's always been on barges or from the ocean.'
Another member of the council said they only reason they met on such short notice was because Trump is a famous multibillionaire. 'If this were John Smith or Mary Jones, I don't believe this council would be called into session with barely 24 hours notice,' Councilman Bill Brooks said.
The application for the Saturday fireworks show didn't get to the council until Wednesday and they met to discuss the issue yesterday. Apparently, Trump's people did not think they needed to go through the council in such a formal fashion.
Regardless of the denial of the fireworks permit, the wedding will go on as scheduled. Then, it's up to 'The Donald' to make some fireworks of his own.
