Sundance Film Festival – Opening Night Extravaganza’s

The Sundance Film Festival officially opened the festival with Lion’s Gate’s commercially accepted independent film a not so “Happy Ending” starring Lisa Kudrow and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Reviews coming off of the night were that the film was nothing spectacular, and we couldn’t agree more. Lion’s Gate held their Champagne, Red Wine, and Dinner after party for the film downstairs below the Blender Sessions with The Exies and the Chemical Brothers. The Blender party started off slow but as soon as everyone realized that the official opening night gala event at Deer Valley was a bust people moved over to Main Street to party the night away. Most celebrities stayed away from the Blender Sessions but Jenny McCarthy did make an appearance and so did Travis Aaron from the upcoming film “The War of the Worlds” with Tom Cruise.

Flights were canceled left and right and a lot of attendee’s were lucky to have made it if they flew into Salt Lake City yesterday. Dense fog covered the city and delayed and canceled flights from Los Angeles and New York. Once you got to the airport, you’d start to see friends that you have met in previous years, and the paparazzi staking out the escalators hoping to catch a glimpse of this year’s Paris Hilton and Nick Carter.

Yesterday was the calm before the storm. Today the films begin at full throttle, and will not stop for the next 10 days. If you are ready to party with the best of them and see films that you may never see ever again then jump in your car or get on the next flight out to Salt Lake City, and come check out the 2005 Sundance Film Festival!
