The FBI has notified city officials in Boston that four Chinese nationals suspected of planning terrorist activities were headed to the city. According to the FBI, the four men were dropped off in New York City and were heading to launch an attack in Boston. Unconfirmed evidence says they entered the country through Mexico.
Mitt Romney, the governor of Massachusetts, tried to downplay the threat, calling it 'uncorroborated and unsubstantiated.' He later told reporters that the 'degree of risk is not terribly high.'
The four men were identified as Quin Zheng, Guozhi Lin, Xiujin Chen and Zengrong Lin and there photographs were soon released by law enforcement officials.
According to the FBI, the threat is a 'dirty' bomb. These weapons spread radioactive material by using conventional explosive devices.
Despite the report, the terror alert rating in Boston has not been elevated. Authorities are on an increased sense of alert, but refuse to panic.
'It's important to underline to the people of the state that it's safe to be home,' Romney told the Associated Press as he headed back towards his home state. He said that's where he should go 'in case any change in procedure is called for.'
