Sundance Film Festival Spotlight - Inside Deep Throat

Generally considered the most profitable film of all time, “Deep Throat” was routinely released in a midtown Manhattan adult theater in June 1972 but soon became the flashpoint for an unprecedented social and political firestorm. The sexually explicit film, barely one hour long and produced for less than $25,000, unexpectedly became a cultural phenomenon at the moment
when the nation's movements of sexual liberation, equal rights and questioning authority demanded a combustible focus. More than 30 years later, this new documentary examines the
chasm between the modest intentions of the filmmakers behind “Deep Throat” and the enduring impact and legacy that their film left on society.

INSIDE DEEP THROAT is a Universal Pictures release, an HBO/Cinemax Documentary Films -- Imagine Entertainment Presentation of a World Of Wonder Production and was produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and HBO's Sheila Nevins. The film was written and directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, who caused a sensation at the Sundance Film Festival 2003 with “Party Monster”, starring Macaulay Culkin in the true story of 80s club kid and eventual murderer Michael Alig.

Screening times:
Friday, 1/21 at 9:30 PM -- Eccles
Saturday, 1/22 at 11:30 AM -- Library
Saturday, 1/22 at 9:00 PM -- Tower Theater, SLC
