A bomb on the roadside in southwest Baghdad killed two American soldiers and injured at least four more today as violence continued to rage throughout American occupied Iraq. The Abrams tank the soldiers were driving was destroyed in the blast.
The names of the soldiers are being withheld by the military pending notification of their families. They were all a part of Task Force Baghdad.
Violence in Iraq is on the increase as the January 30th election date gets closer. Insurgents and radical Islamist groups have already urged a boycott of the elections and have called all who participate in them 'infidels.' It is the goal of the insurgents to make things in Iraq unsafe for voters by the use of terror.
As of now, at least 1,355 Americans have died in the war in Iraq which began in March 2003. The majority of these soldiers were killed after President Bush declared 'mission accomplished' shortly after the fall of Saddam Hussein's goverment.
