Two Freight Trains Collided early this morning near Graniteville, South Carolina. Local officials have not yet released information regarding the extent of deaths or injuries, but at least one person driving in a car near the scene was injured.
The two trains are both owned and operated by Norfolk Southern and crashed and derailed at approximately 2:30am EST. Reports are that at least three hazardous chemicals were on board the trains including the very dangerous Chlorine gas. Decontamination sites have been set up to treat people who have been exposed to any hazardous chemicals or gases. There have been several people who have complained of breathing difficulties taken to the decontamination centers and nearby hospitals.
Several nearby businesses and schools have been closed as a result of the collision.
