Big-hearted actress Sandra Bullock has donated $1 million US to the American Red Cross to aid relief efforts in countries destroyed by the deadly earthquake and tsunamis in southern Asia and eastern Africa.
Bullock, whose screen credits include Speed, While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality, and Hope Floats, contacted the American Red Cross last week, sources from the organization said on Monday. She also donated the same large sum of money after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York.
In a recent statement American Red Cross President and Chief Executive Officer Marsha Evans said, “At this critical time, I am grateful to Sandra Bullock for once again demonstrating her leadership, compassion and belief in our global humanitarian mission.” She went on to say, “Sandra continues to enable our lifesaving work and is a model for personal generosity.”
