Robert DiNiro and company blew away the competition at the box office this weekend, as Meet the Fockers proved to be the #1 movie for the second week in a row. Selling $42.8, the film, which teams up Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, has pulled in over $163 million in its first twelve days.
Meet the Fockers broke two records over the weekend. It was the highest grossing movie on New Year's Eve ($12.2 million) and also New Year's Day ($18 million).
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events was a distant second, selling $14.7 million, and The Aviator came in third with $11.2 million. Fat Albert ($10.7 million) and Ocean's Twelve ($9.2 million) rounded out the top five.
National Treasure hung in at #6, selling $7 million, and Adam Sandler's Spanglish held the #7 slot with $6.3 million. The Polar Express, The Phantom of the Opera, and Darkness were the final three.
