Reports out of London indicate that Queen Elizabeth is furious at Prince Charles for moving his upcoming wedding ceremony with Camilla Parker Bowles from Windsor Palace to the local town hall. The wedding is scheduled to take place April 8 at Guildhall in Windsor.
The reason for the change was practical. If Windsor Castle was licensed as a wedding hall, 'commoners' would have the right to hold weddings there as well.
A Clarence House spokesman said, 'There were a number of issues around the license. 'It would have meant that the rooms, which are normally open to the public, would have to be closed numerous times. Thousands of people visit the castle each year. A license is not just for one event.'
The Sun reported that the Queen was 'appalled at the prospect of a ceremony she regards as 'common' and unfit for the heir to the throne.'
Approximately 700 guests are expected at the wedding, a far cry from the 3,000 who were invited to Charles's first wedding to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
