The Michael Jackson child molestation case will be delayed further as a death in the family of Jackson's lead attorney has led to an adjournment.
Marigeane Leone Kachurka, the sister of defense lawyer Thomas Mesereau, Jr., died on Saturday of lung cancer. As a result, Mesereau will not be in court tomorrow when the case was scheduled to resume.
Now, the case will be put off until the following Monday, February 14th. Tomorrow, jurors will be assigned numbers but no questioning of potential jurors will take place. The voir dire will resume on Valentine's Day.
The pop singer did release a statement on his web site offering Mesereau his condolences. 'Tom, you and your entire family will be in our prayers. May God grant you all much comfort and peace,' the statement read.
Jackson faces a total of 10 criminal counts in this case including allegations that he sexually molested a 13-year-old boy, gave him intoxicating beverages and showed him pornography. He has denied all charges against him and claims he will be 'vindicated.' This is the second time Jackson has been accused of sexually molesting young boys. The first case was dropped after a settlement was reached with the plaintiff's family worth a reported $20 million.
