Pete Doherty, the former front man for the British group the Libertines, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 30-year-old documentary filmmaker. According to the British newspaper The Guardian, Doherty attacked 30-year-old Max Carlish after the two had been arguing in the Rookery Hotel in London.
Scotland Yard arrived at the hotel Wednesday evening after being called about a man being attacked. A spokesperson confirmed the incident but did not name Doherty as the person detained, and who is also charged with suspicion of theft.
Carlish told The Guardian that Doherty accused him of selling pictures of Doherty smoking heroin. Doherty became agitated and began demanding a lot of money. Carlish said that when he refused to give Doherty money, the musician flew into a rage and began attacking.
'He was desperate for a fix.' Carlish said. I said 'No,' and he went berserk, punching me.'
Doherty was kicked out of his former band last year and formed Babyshambles. He has been arrested previously and served time for burglarizing one of his former band mates' homes. He has been rumored as being involved with actress Kate Moss.
