Actress Mayte Michelle Rodriguez, best known for her portrayal of Ana Lucia on the ABC hit television show 'Lost,' was officially charged Thursday with drunken driving.
Rodriguez, 27, is already on probation for a DUI in California. The latest incident took place in Hawaii on November 24. Thursday, Rodriguez entered not guilty pleas in Kane'ohe District Court. Her trial is scheduled to begin on March 30.
Because Rodriguez is already on probation in California, she could face up to 18 months in jail if the California judge determines that she violated the conditions of her probation by committing another DUI.
Fellow 'Lost' star, Cynthia Watros, 37, was also arrested with Rodriguez. Watros will enter a plea on January 12 after requesting an adjournment.
Watros' attorney, Lanson Kupau, said his client will likely plead guilty on January 12. Kupau added that Watros has expressed remorse over the incident.
'Cynthia realizes she made a mistake,' Kupau told the 'Honolulu Advertiser.' 'This sends a clear message that you shouldn't drink and drive. She wants to get this over with and take responsibility for it.'
Rodriguez faces up to 14 days in jail and a fine of $1,500 in Hawaii if convicted. She has been accused as a repeat offender because of her prior conviction in California.
Meanwhile, Deputy Los Angeles City Attorney Tim Saito filed a motion to have Rodriguez's probation revoked on December 21. Satio indicated that the judge in California will await the outcome of the Hawaii case before making a decision as to whether or not Rodriguez did violate the conditions of her probation.
