Actor Colin Farrell has entered a treatment center for exhaustion and for an addiction to prescription drugs according to a spokesman for the Irish actor.
Farrell's publicist, Danica Smith, released a written statement Monday indicating that Farrell was first prescribed painkillers for a back injury he suffered earlier.
The 29-year-old Farrell, best known for his roles in 'Alexander' and 'Phone Booth,' is presently shooting a film version of the popular 80s television show 'Miami Vice.'
Smith refused to give any additional details about Farrell's situation saying, 'No other comments are to be made at this time. We ask that the press respect the privacy of Mr. Farrell and his family.'
The name and location of the treatment center Farrell admitted himself to were not disclosed. It was also not disclosed how long the actor would remain as in inpatient at the facility.
