New York, December 6, 2005 – Movie premieres are so glamorous, especially in New York, especially in December. Evening gowns, klieg lights shining on heaven, flash bulbs popping, snow melting on movie stars! On Tuesday at the Loews Lincoln Square theater, the brightly lit marquee proudly alerted passersby of the "Brokeback Mountain" premiere within. Melting snow, dripping at regular intervals on a conveniently located photo-op spot, pelted those who ventured closer, like stars Heath Ledger, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams.
Apparently the romance is over between Ledger and his onscreen lover Jake Gyllenhaal. Both cowboys are sticking to their respective coasts, even for promotional duties.
Ang Lee, Sofia Coppola, Lili Taylor, Sigourney Weaver and Larry McMurtry, who wrote the "Brokeback" screenplay, also felt the cold drip.
