Relax and keep on talking. A new study conducted by the London-based Institute of Cancer Research has found no link between the use of cell phones and brain tumors. The results of the study were published on the Web site of the 'British Journal of Cancer.'
The study questioned 678 patients who already had developed acoustic neuroma, a rare brain tumor, and 3,553 people who did not have the condition. It then compared their use of cellular telephones over a 10 year period.
The leader of the study, Anthony Swerdlow, still cautioned people about having young children use cell phones extensively and about the long term effects of cell phone use.
'The results of our study suggest that there is no substantial risk in the first decade after starting use,' Swerdlow explained. 'Whether there are longer-term risks remains unknown, reflecting the fact that this is a relatively recent technology.'
This study agrees with the results of a recent Swedish study which also found no link between cell phone use and brain tumors.
