It seems that Courtney Love is always in trouble with the law. Wednesday, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge ordered Ms. Love to appear before him due to a possible violation of her probation.
The incident took place last month at a Hollywood hotel. On July 21, Love was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. She was attending a party for a jeans company when she felt faint and went outside according to her publicist. A friend called an ambulance as a 'precaution' and Love was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
A spokeswoman for the LAPD told the 'Los Angeles Times' that 'Courtney Love overdosed at the Roosevelt and was transported to Cedars-Sinai hospital around midnight.' They later refused to comment further about the incident according to a story published by the same paper.
Love is on probation right now stemming from two incidents. One is a felony drug conviction dating back to 2003, the other is a misdemeanor assault charge this past February in which Love allegedly threw a bottle at a woman she found at her former boyfriend's home.
Love, 41, has a long history of drug addiction. She is the former lead singer for the group Hole and the widow of the late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain. Cobain killed himself in 1994.
Judge Rand S. Rubin has ordered Love to appear in court on August 19. If a violation is found, Love may have to re-enter a drug rehab program or may even be sent to jail.
