Fans of pro football who have been waiting since the Super Bowl to get some satisfaction can surely hear the 2005 season knocking with last week’s start of pre season. And on Thurs. September 8, the planet’s biggest sports association, the National Football League will collaborate with “the world’s greatest rock’n roll band” The Rolling Stones on 'NFL Opening Kickoff 2005' a one-hour pre game show to air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
'NFL Opening Kickoff 2005' is scheduled to include footage from Mick and the boys Aug. 31 concert in Detroit and will lead into the first regular season Monday Night Football game of the year between the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and legendary Monday night renegades the Oakland Raiders.
September 8 won’t be the last time the Stones and NFL will roll together this upcoming season. ABC will be using the band’s tunes and video clips all through season 2005 as part of its Monday Night Football programming. Much of the music and visuals will be courtesy of the former British bad lads new CD 'A Bigger Bang' (Virgin Records) which has a street date of September 6.
The Stones/NFL collaboration comes 40 years after '(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction' became the band’s first number one single and also marks the 40th anniversary of the Green Bay Packers pounding of the Kansas City Chiefs in the first NFL/AFL Championship Game (prior to it officially being known as The Super Bowl).
Football and Rolling Stones fans have been hungry for more gridiron and rock’n roll satisfaction ever since.
