Two members of rapper 50 Cent's G-Unit were arrested and charged with weapons possession Monday night after performing in Madison Square Garden as part of the Anger Management 3 Tour. 24-year-old Young Buck, aka David Brown, and Lloyd Banks, 23, whose real name is Chris Lloyde, were nabbed with ten others after police pulled the van over for running a red light at West 41st Street and Eighth Avenue in New York.
NYPD had been keeping a close eye on the entourage after rumors had circulated that there might be trouble after the concert. According to reports, they found a loaded 40 caliber as well as a 357 handgun during the search. In all, 13 people were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Young Buck and Lloyd Banks are members of 50 Cent's G-Unit. Lloyd Banks is an original member of the group, but Young Buck replaced Tony Yayo, an original member, after he was arrested. The tour also includes Mobb Deep, M.O.P, D12, Obie Trice, Stat Quo, Pitbull, Lil’ Jon, and Lil’ Scrappy.
Police at every venue have been out in force, possibly drawn by the antagonism of the performers towards authority. At one point during the show, attendees report, the crowd is encourage to pump their fists in the air and berate police.
The two were released without bail on Tuesday. Scott Lennon, their attorney has no comment, and the tour will continue as scheduled.
