The terrorist group al-Qaeda has released a video threatening more violence in London. The video featured Ayman al-Zawahiri, considered the second highest ranking al-Qaeda member behind Osama bin Laden. It was broadcast on Al Jazeera television Thursday morning.
'To the British, I am telling you that Blair brought you destruction in the middle of London and more will come, God willing,' he said.
Zawahiri appeared to refer to the two bombing attacks of July 7 and July 21 against the London Underground. The first suicide bombings killed 52 people plus the four bombers. The second series of bombs failed to detonate and there were no casualties.
Zawahiri levied threats against the United States and made reference to the September 11 attacks.
'Our message is clear -- what you saw in New York and Washington and what you are seeing in Afghanistan and Iraq, all these are nothing compared to what you will see next.'
He continued saying, 'stop stealing our oil and wealth and stop supporting corrupt rulers.'
'If you continue your politics against Muslims, you will see, God willing, such horror that you will forget the horrors of Vietnam.'
He referred to an 'offer' by Osama bin Laden to stop attacks if foreign troops withdrew completely from Muslim lands.
'Didn't Osama bin Laden tell you that you would never dream of peace until we actually live it in Palestine and before all foreign forces withdraw from the Land of Mohammed? Instead, you spilled rivers of blood in our countries, and we exploded volcanoes of anger in your countries.'
This is the third videotape released by al-Qaeda featuring Zawahiri this year. One was released in February and one in June.
Osama bin Laden has not released a tape since an audio message was left in December.
