The tabloid 'The Star' has been caught in the act. The weekly magazine admitted that it combined two separate photographs of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and put them on its cover claiming it was a photograph of the couple on an African beach. 'The Star' was trying to compete with 'Us Weekly' which showed a photo of the two actors on the beach in Africa.

The magazine does admit the photo is a composite, but only on page eight. The issue proclaims 'Brad & Angelina: Caught Together! On Vacation' while page eight notes in much smaller letters that the cover image is a 'composite of two photographs.'

'Us Weekly' paid $500,000 for the real photos of the couple on the African beach along with Jolie's three-year-old son Maddox. The couple was not being affectionate in the photographs which were bought from a London-based agency.

The two photos that were combined were a picture of Pitt on a beach on the island of Anguilla and Jolie and Maddox on a beach in Virginia. Maddox looks much younger in the picture than he does today.

There has been increasing speculation that Pitt and Jolie were a couple once again. Pitt is in the process of divorcing wife Jennifer Aniston.

Neither Pitt nor Jolie commented on the story or photographs.
