Yahoo! has released its latest weapon in the battle for search engine supremacy: personalized web searches. They are calling the new technology 'My Search' and it is available in beta form on the company's website.
The new technology allows users to create their own personal archive. They can save their search results, favorite pages and search histories. In addition, users can share information they find with friends and coworkers through e-mails, instant messenger or Yahoo 360 service.
Qi Lu, the vice president of engineering for Yahoo! Search praised the new technology. 'My Web is the next step in our vision of integrating search, personal search and community by providing users an easy way to have their own personal web search experience that incorporates the best of the Web and what matters most to them.'
There are concerns by privacy groups that the stored information on the search engine could be used by advertisers or even in court cases against users.
Yahoo! also finalized the reorganization of its news page. The company claims the new site design allows users to view more headlines and content and is 'cleaner' and 'more organized.' Yahoo! News is the most visited news site on the Internet.
