Tom Cruise's latest off-screen love interest is former 'Dawson's Creek' star Katie Holmes. Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, have been dating now for a few weeks according to Cruise's publicist and sister, Lee Anne DeVette. Holmes' PR firm, Baker Winokur Ryder, also confirmed that the two were 'dating.'
Photographs showing the couple together in Rome had appeared this week. Cruise is in Rome to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Italian equivalent of the Oscars, the David di Donatello Awards.
Both Cruise and Holmes have recently ended high profile romances with fellow actors. Cruise ended his relationship with actress Penelope Cruz in 2004. He had previously been married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman with both marriages ending in divorce.
Holmes was previously engaged to actor Chris Klein. The couple called off their engagement recently. They had been dating for more than five years.
Both Cruise and Holmes have large scale projects coming up. Cruise is set to star in Steven Spielberg's remake of 'War of the Worlds' while Holmes will costar in this summer's much anticipated 'Batman Begins.'
