An airplane caught fire shortly after landing on the runway in Tehran Wednesday killing 'scores of people' according to Iran's state-run media. The number of people killed and injured were not reported. There were 157 passengers on board the plane.
The plane belonged to Saha Airlines. The report indicated that the left engine caught fire as the plane was taxiing down the runway after landing. The plane then fell into the river at the end of the runway according to the broadcast report.
The Iranian news report blamed the fire on 'technical failure' and said that the plane caught fire minutes after landing at 10:15 PM local time.
Saha airlines operates both civilian and military flights. While the news report indicated that there were eight children on the plane, it was uncertain whether there were military personnel on the flight as well.
