Don't tell Dontrelle Willis that the complete game is a thing of the past. The Florida Marlins pitcher hurled his second straight complete game shutout to lead the Marlins to a 4-0 win over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Willis struck out seven and walked only one batter while holding Philadelphia to just three hits.
The 23-year-old left-hander improved his record to 2-0 and has yet to give up an earned run in 18 innings pitched this season. The Marlins also improved their league-leading team ERA to an unheard of 1.36
Miguel Cabrera had 2 RBIs to lead the Marlins offense. Florida scored one run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Cabrera set up by a fielding error by David Bell. Florida added another run in the second inning when Damion Easley doubled and was brought home by Matt Treanor's line drive single.
Cory Lidle took the loss for Philadelphia.
The win increased the Marlins record to 5-4 on the season while the Phillies dropped to 4-5.
