The coach of high school football team in Canton, Texas was shot and wounded by the father of one of his players today. The suspect then got into a pickup truck filled with weapons and fled. The shooting took place on school grounds. According to local police, the man said he had a hit list of other people he planned to find and that he would not be taken alive.
The suspect, Jeffrey Doyle Robinson, is still at large. Police came across a truck that belonged to him approximately two hours after the shooting but he was not inside.
Local authorities are trying to find a motive for the shooting of coach Gary Joe Kinne. There was apparently an 'altercation' between Robinson and Kinne shortly after Kinne took over as the school's football coach in 2003 according to Texas Department of Public Safety officer Jasmine Andresen.
All schools in the district were locked down pending Robinson's capture. Kinne was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas after being wounded by the shooting. The weapon used was an AK-47. There was no report on his condition at this time.
