What’s next for series creator Darren Star? Now that “Sex and the City” is over, he’ll be turning up the heat in the kitchen. The Hollywood Reporter says that Star is working on a project based on “Kitchen Confidential” the controversial tell-all book by Anthony Bourdain that exposed what goes on in the kitchens of some of New York’s fanciest restaurants. The project will be a half-hour show. Star will supervise the writing of the pilot and will executive produce and direct.
Star’s track record as a creator has been mercurial. When he hits, it’s usually a big success such as “Sex and the City” and “Melrose Place.” But he has also had some tremendous flops including “Central Park West” and “The Street.” Bourdain’s book was a bestseller but shows about restaurants, including Rocco DiSpirito’s reality show, haven’t always had a lot of staying power.
