As we reported yesterday, Damien Holland, the 25-year-old son of singer Chaka Khan was recently arrested in the shooting death of a 17-year old at his apartment complex. Due to an insufficient amount of evidence, Holland has escaped being charged with murder. The Los Angeles County prosecutors reviewed the case and decided that there they would not file charges at the this time.

The Los Angeles police arrested Holland on Friday night after the shooting occurred. Holland and the 17-year-old victim were struggling for control of a high-powered rifle when it discharged. They had allegedly found the rifle on a nearby rooftop. The wounded young man was taken to a hospital, where he died. Holland was booked and sent to county jail.

Damien Holland is Chaka Khan's son by her second husband, Richard Holland, whom she married in 1974. Chaka Khan is Grammy Award-winning singer who is most famous for the song “I Feel For You.” She most recently appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards singing with Kanye West, who sampled her song “Through the Fire” for his hit, “Through the Wire.”
