IFP Market Screening of 'Peoples'

September 22, 2004 - New York, NY - The award winning feature film “Peoples” will be closing the IFP Market's Emerging Narratives Program on Thursday September 23 at 5PM at the Angelika Film Center.

This film offers a glimpse of the self-destructive lifestyles of three childhood friends. 'Peoples' is a late coming of age story and a searing drama of a forgotten corner of American life. After spending only one semester away at college, Oliver Anderson (John Hensley) is back in his hometown living with his wealthy and conservative parents. He is reunited with his best friends, Patrick (Joshua Harto) and Sorn (Billoah Greene), for one last summer of wild fun.

Fueled by the desire to avoid responsibility at all costs, the trio has a simple set of priorities: get drunk, chase women, and cause trouble.

As the weeks go by, this reckless routine quickly becomes self-destructive. A succession of dysfunctional relationships coupled with substance abuse and an identity crisis lead the gang to realize it's time to grow up.

“Peoples” stars John Hensley who is a series regular on FX’s hit drama “Nip/Tuck”. On the show, he plays Matt, the curious yet conflicted seventeen-year-old son of Dylan Walsh’s and Joely Richardson’s characters. Before this project, Hensley was seen on TNT’s “Witchblade” as Gabriel, an antique dealer who befriends and mentors Sarah, the female lead.

Co-star Billoah Greene landed his first major role in Miramax’s “Levity' which he co-starred with Morgan Freeman and Kirsten Dunst. He is also featured in the Independent Film “Brother to Brother” which premiered at Sundance earlier this year and will be closing the IFP Market. 'Peoples' also stars Kate Mara ('Random Hearts”, 'Tadpole”), Joshua Harto ('The Believer”, HBO's 'Oz') and features a very special appearance by legendary star Ron Jeremy.
