Love her or hate her, Celine Dion is one popular performer. Not only did she have an entire auditorium built only for her, but she will be extending her run there for another year. Her show, titled “A New Day” was originally slated to run through 2006 but now will play until 2007. She performs 200 shows a year and has already sold over one million tickets.
Dion most recently performed at the World Music Awards in Las Vegas where she accepted the Diamond Award as the best-selling female singer in history. She has won six Grammy Awards.
Dion, who cancelled shows in Las Vegas last week due to a sinus infection, made the announcement of her contract extension through her husband/manager Rene Angelil. Dion’s latest album, “Miracle” will be released on Epic October 12th. The CD will be packaged with a 180-page coffee table book that is a collaboration with baby photographer Ann Geddes. The first single off the album will be a cover of the John Lennon song “Beautiful Boy.” Her only 2004 concert appearance outside of Las Vegas will be at Madison Square Garden on October 15th.
