Once again Usher, Kanye West and Outkast top the list of nominations for a music awards show. Usher leads the pack with four nominations but West and Outkast aren’t far behind with three nods each. Winners will be announced on November 14th during a ceremony to be shown on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel will host the show which will be broadcast from the Shirne Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Usher has been this year’s best-selling recording artist. His album “Confessions” has sold over 5 million copies. Outkast’s double album “Speakerboxx/The Love Below” has also sold over $5 million copies and took home the Grammy for album of the year last February. Kanye West’s debut album as an artist “The College Album” has sold over two miliion copies thus far.
Ten other artists had two nominations including Jessica Simpson, Prince, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and Sheryl Crow.
The American Music Awards shifted to November from January to avoid competing with the Grammys. The winners of the AMAs are determined by a national poll of 20,000 people. Nominees are chosen by radio airplay and retail sales.
