Six different women, from all walks of life come together in one house, to change their lives. Television's first daytime reality show returns for a second season, and sparks begin to fly almost immediately.
Like you mother's 'Real World,' the housemates arrive one by one, each
revealing little tidbits of their secret lives that they are going to reveal to the world.
Amy Harkin, daughter of Senator Tom Harkin and a Starting Over graduate, greets the housemates and makes her standard commentary that fans of the show have come to know. First to arrive is Towanda, a woman who looks like she has it altogether, but as Amy notates, looks don't always mean truth. In succession, Jennifer, Kim, Deborah, and Sinae arrive, each sporting a diverse personality and outlook, each playing their secret cards close to their emotional
vests. Amy sits the women down and sends them on their first task, grocery shopping, and prepares to leave them in wait for their Life Coaches, as well as their sixth and seventh roommates. Before Amy dispatches them, it is revealed that Sinae is legally blind. In succession, the women all begin to clash with the strong-willed Deborah, and the drama begins.
Upon returning from shopping, the women meet Rhonda Britten and Iyanla
Vanzant, both of whom have been shaping people's lives for years. Britten was one of the two life coaches from season one. Rana Walker, the other life coach from the first season is gone from the show, but is still heard in the opening credits. Britten has a successful business that includes motivational speaking and life coaching, a line of very successful books, as well as a British television series entitled, what else, 'Help Me Rhonda.' Vanzant, also a successful author and coach, was a frequent contributor to 'Oprah' and hosted her own talk show for one season, and is known across the U.S. as a spiritual mentor.
Following their first meeting with the women, the final roommates make their entrance. Josie and her daughter Chloe are very familiar to viewers. Josie entered the house, late last season, homeless and not knowing the paternity of her unborn child. Chloe was born and Josie's reluctant boyfriend refused to do the DNA test until the show was over. Josie has returned, to Starting Over, to finish what she started and we will soon see the resolution of the DNA cliffhanger.
Overall, season two looks to be twice as exciting as the first. The new house and city have already shaken things up. Look for the
clashing coaching styles of Britten and Vanzant to stir up turmoil. Also joining the team is Dr. Stan Katz, a psychologist and expert witness in the Michael Jackson fiasco. We will meet Katz later in the premier week and he will shake up the status quo, adding a male perspective to the mix. Only time will tell.
