BRITNEY SPEARS' ex-husband and childhood pal JASON ALEXANDER has slighted the pop beauty's current fiance KEVIN FEDERLINE - by branding him a 'punk'.

In January (04), Spears shocked fans when she and Alexander walked down the aisle in an impromptu Las Vegas ceremony, only for the union to last just 55 hours.

And now that Spears is set to wed for the second time this year (04), Alexander, who no longer has contact with the TOXIC singer, is far from impressed with father-of-two Federline.

On the premiere episode of the new LARRY ELDER SHOW, which debuts tomorrow (13SEP04), Alexander says, 'I can say I was in love with her. She never told me (that she loved me) but, I mean, for her to ask me a question like that and be serious about it, you know...I would think she was in love with me.

'Nothing against her...but I wouldn't want to be a part of that family (now), man. They're not the same people...that I knew when I grew up.

'It hurts my feelings a little bit to know that I wasn't good enough...for her family. I never met (Kevin) before. Looks like a punk.'

And Alexander is confident that Spears' family members do not approve of the impending nuptials - despite their public unity.

He adds, 'They're good actors. I know her family, so I know what they really think and what they're saying.'

Alexander, who is now in a new relationship, concludes, 'I'm sorry about the way everything happened and I still care about her. I don't have anything against her. And if she ever needed anything from me, call me, I'd do it.' (RGS/WN/GES)
