Reverend Al Sharpton may not have been able to win a job as president of the United States but he has a job as a reality TV host helping people makeover their own careers. Spike TV, which has recently made itself over as a male-skewed programming network and has featured such reality shows as “Joe Schmo” now brings Sharpton to the small screen. Sharpton’s show “I Hate My Job” features eight male contestants who quit their jobs. Sharpton and psychologist Stephanie Raye will give the contestants weekly assignments and advice as they try to find their true calling. A panel of judges will determine who stays and who goes home each week. The show will debut on Spike in October.
After his campaign ended, Sharpton began a new campaign—for a job on television. He has worked as a commentator and is interested in hosting his own talk show. Sharpton’s flamboyant personality and penchant for outrageous sound bites has made him a familiar target on television. He has been a guest on many shows and hosted an episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
