No official word has been released but Variety reports that Noah Wyle may finally be ready to check out of the “ER.” Wyle is the only original cast member who has been with the popular show for all of its 10 seasons. Wyle may move on after the 11th season depending on the storyline for his character, Dr. John Carter. While on “ER,” Wyle has been able to appear in some films including “Donnie Darko” and “White Oleander” and so an expanded film career may be in his future.

The series begins its 11th season on September 23. While NBC’s deal for the show has it lasting through 2006, there is concern that ratings will continue to plummet. The show recently announced that it will be filming a real-time episode featuring Ray Liotta and that two TV veterans “Twin Peaks” star Madchen Amick and Shane West from “Once and Again” will be joining the cast.
