Gilligans Island Becomes Reality TV Show

In an attempt to cover two current trends at once—reality TV and remaking old shows, TBS has come up with “The Real Gilligan’s Island.” The show will begin in November and will feature seven castaways who are all real-life versions of the original characters. The object of the show will be to see if the cast can get off an island they are stranded on. The show may also reenact some of the wacky episodes from the original series.

The show is being executive-produced by Sherwood Schwarz, the creator of the original “Gilligan’s Island” with his son Lloyd and Mike Fleiss, one of the producers from “The Bachelor.”

'I really don't think this show is going to work,' Bob Denver told the Associated Press. Denver starred on 'Gilligan's Island' from 1964 to 1967. 'I'd like to see them put a lion or a tiger on the island, but I really don't think that would happen. Or they could get real headhunters from Borneo and put them on the island,' Denver said.
