A Superior Court judges has ordered that 'America's Sweetheart' Courtney Love will have to stand trial on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Love has been accused of entering the home of former boyfriend Jim Barber and attacking Kristen King as she slept on a sofa. Allegedly, Love grabbed a liquor bottle and threw it at King's head, then threw a lit candle and pinched her breasts.
On Wednesday, Superior Court Commissioner Sanjay Kumar heard testimony from the victim, as well as a neighbor who witnessed the April 25 incident. Marilyn Corre testified that she was awakened by yelling and crying comeing from her neighbor's home, and saw Love charging at King with a flashlight.
The judge found that there was 'uncontroverted evidence that without provocation the defendant threw a bottle at the victim and chased her with a flashlight,' and ordered Love to face felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
The Celebrity Skin singer was ordered to appear for arraignment on the felony assualt charge November 10. She remains free on $150,000 bail.
Love had previously pleaded guilty to an unrelated charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident occurring during her show at a Greenwich Village nightclub earlier this year. The riot girl rocker allegedly pitched a microphone stand into a crowd, hitting one of her fans on the head.
