When we first started out with Beards For Cancer we thought it would be a walk in the park. It would be so easy to just not shave for a year.
Not shaving is easy; it has definitely saved us some time in the morning.
But, what is not easy is to hear all of the heart breaking stories of those who have lost friends, lost loved ones and lost children.
That is not easy.
It's not easy knowing that 1,368,030 people will be diagnosed with cancer in the year 2004 alone. That's a new diagnose every 23 seconds!
It's not easy knowing that 563,700 people will die as a result of cancer this year. That's more then 1500 people dieing every day!
And it's the hardest to know that there are still countless number of people oblivious to all of this and that only helps to perpetuate this horrible cycle.
But what's nice to know is there is hope.
There are organizations such as; The American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, Locks of Love.
And they are doing everything they can in the fight against cancer.
It's nice to know that information is easy to spread these days.
Knowledge is power. No one should be uninformed.
I stand before you talking as someone that has lost loved ones, I have friends with this disease.
I stand here asking for a change.
We need more people to start making a donation, as big or small as it is, it will help.
Cancer will effect everyone in some way during there lifetime.
Let's start doing something about it.
Beards For Cancer is doing something about it, and now's the time to join the fight.
Help us in our mission, and if you can't help us then help one of the other groups I've mentioned.
