BET pulls Eminem's latest video at Michael Jackson's request

Michael Jackson has come out swinging over Eminem's latest video. Eminem, who delights on savaging the careers of his fellow superstars recently debuted a video for his new song 'Just Lose It' that depicts him as Michael Jackson among other characters. In the video, Eminem as Michael, romps with children, sticks his flaming hair on a toliet, is vomited upon and loses his nose on the dance floor. An outraged Jackson has called the video 'demeaning and disrespectful.' Jackson, 46, has been accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy after plying him with alcohol at his Neverland Ranch last year and is currently awaiting trial.

'Michael is very angry about this video,' said his spokeswoman Raymone Bain. Jackson has asked television networks to stop playing the video. So far only BET has complied citing their long relationship with Jackson and his family. BET has asked other networks to follow suit but MTV is still playing the video.

Jackson is currently free on three million dollars bail and has said that he is innocent and the boy's family is only pursuing the case in hopes of a large settlement. 'I'm very angry at Eminem's depiction of me in this video. I feel that it is outrageous and disrespectful. It is one thing to spoof but it is another to be demeaning and insensitive,' Jackson said in a radio interview on the 'Steve Harvey Show' in Los Angeles. Harvey is a Jackson supporter and recently attended church with Jackson.

Is Jackson in the right? Does the video constitute defamation of character or is Eminem entitled to free speech? Jackson certainly shouldn't take it personally. Eminem has appeared as Osama Bin Laden, Elvis, Madonna and his own mother, among other characters in a series of videos that focus on quirky controversial themes.
