In the entertainment world, everything old gets something new again.
The 55-year-old legendary Piano Man, Billy Joel, said goodbye to bachelorhood and married his 23-year-old fiancée Kate Lee, in a sunset ceremony Saturday at his Long Island waterfront mansion.
It's the third marriage for the Tony winning singer-songwriter -- his first marriage to Elizabeth Weber lasted nearly ten years, ending in divorce in 1982; his second to Uptown Girl and fashion model Christie Brinkley also ended after just shy of ten years in 1994. Brinkley and Joel had one daughter, Alexa Ray, who was in attendance at the weekend ceremony.
Joel has been in semi-retirement from pop music for several years now as he has been concentrating on creating more classically styled music. But the Captain Jack singer seems to have jumped in on a couple Hollywood trends.
First, he joined the older-man younger-woman club, with other members Michael Douglas, Tony Randall, and more recently Kevin Costner. But, to be more of a Big Shot, Joel has announced recently that he will join the Hollywood cast of children's book writers club -- along with other well-attached scribes, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Crystal, John Travolta and of course Jay Leno -- with his 'Goodnight My Angel: A Lullabye' which is slated for a Fall 2005 release.
I'm sure his next move will be to join fellow ivory-ticklers Elton John and Randy Newman in the let's-score-a-movie club.
The Stranger superstar has won six Grammy awards and had received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just last month.
