The landmark Japanese monster turned 50 on November 3rd, just as his 28th movie is about to be released.
No high-tech FX and gadgetry for the old-timer, though. In 'Godzilla: Final Wars', out in Japanese theatres next month, the original lizard king will wreak havoc the old fashion way: a guy in a rubber suit stomping cardboard buildings.
"Godzilla movies preserve a distinct Japanese style of filmmaking. They are made by many people working together," said Toho Pictures president Shogo Tomiyama,. "The films are our identity."
Even US will honour the long-lasting character. On November 29th, he will be immortalized with his own star in front Grauman's Chinese Theatre, home of the famous Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
