'Spirited Away' creator Hayao Miyazaki's newest feature film fared so well over the last week end, industry experts predict it will break every Japanese Box Office record.
Entitled 'Howl's Moving Castle', the movie is based on a book by the same name from Brit author Diana Wynne Jones. The story follows teenager Sophie, who is turned into a 90-year-old woman by a witch, and confined to a strange castle along with a fire demon and a sorcerer
The movie took an estimated 1.5B yen on its opening weekend. Miyazaki's last outing, 'Spirited Away', got a total take of 30.4B yen. Distributor Toho expects 'Howl's total recipe to approach the 50B yen mark.
As for the American release, it will again depend on co-producer Disney.
