A 26-year-old Canadian man, who admitted to sending death threats to Michael Jackson via email, has been sentenced to year’s probation followed by a conditional discharge. In the email sent on August 16, Adrian Poffley threatened that “Jackson will not make it to his car.” The email continued, 'This is a promise. By the way, bulletproof vests are weakest under the arm.'
Poffley followed up the first email with another that read, “'The cop in the green suit and blue shirt was in the way. Maybe next time.'
The emails, which were sent to the Santa Barbara courthouse, were traced back to Poffley through Bell Canada. Poffley’s attorney, Sean Safa, defended his client, saying that he had been off medication for depression and anxiety at the time of the incident. Poffley claims that he was depressed by the Jackson case, and the email was sent after he watched Jackson enter the courthouse.
