National Treasure and Spongebob Squarepants both performed above expectations, in a close battle for sirst place. Cage and Bruckheimer grabbed $35M, one of the best for the duo, while Spongebob proved the remaining potential of traditional animation with its impressive $33M.
Bridget Jones, playing on 2,000 additional screens, upped its recipe by $10M, while fellow Alfie completely vanished from the top 10.
Note that 'The Grudge' and 'Saw' are both still in the game.
