Chris Carter updates on X-Files sequel

X-Files creator Chris Carter spoke to SFX Magazine recently, and commented on the long-awaited sequel to the feature film.

Carter exercised caution in his comments, not wanting to step ahead of things and fuel unnecessary buzz. The movie will happen, according to him, but not by late December as previously expected.

"We are in negotiations right now. And because it's a sequel, there are peculiar and specific kinds of negotiations that are holding us up. I think that there's an appetite for it, but I think that it's got to be good. People won't just go and see anything. Whatever happens, I'm going to do something good that people will want to go and see regardless."

No word yet on the storyline that will be used. One might speculate it will address the imminent invasion, hinted at in the series finale. The man himself won't comment, except to say "Not a mythology one (storyline), for sure!"

Carter is also hard at work preparing an adaptation of the Frank Spotnitz thriller 'A Philosophical Investigation", about a computer expert looking to rid the world of people labelled as 'Prone To Violence', just as he is. As for stars Duchovny and Anderson, they might need a little 'Mulder and Scully' to jump start their career. Duchovny's latest was 'Connie and Carla' , while Anderson has been quiet since 2000's 'The House Of Mirth'.
